The Chinese Academy of Science: Institute for Policy and Management


IPM is the largest and leading research institute in the field of science and technology (S&T) policy in China. Since its establishment in 1985 it has been undertaking research on national S&T development strategies, government policies for reforming S&T research institutions, public management of S&T research and long term and short term S&T development. IPM is one the think tanks of the Chinese government in the area of S&T development. It has unparalleled linkages to Chinese policy communities as well as considerable expertise in policy analysis on issues of science and technology.

Staff involved

· Prof. Mu Rongping is Director-general of the Institute of Policy and Management (IPM), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), and the chief scientist and leader of the Research Group for Technology Foresight towards 2020 in China.
· Dr. Song Hefa and Dr. Ren Zhongbao are researchers at IPM.
